A number of criminals have used vehicles as a weapon to commit abhorrent acts. Alice Woods dragged her fiance Ryan Watson 160m under her car, killing him. The 23-year-old had driven at him in a ‘game of chicken’ following an argument.

Saqib Hussain and Mohammed Hashim Ijazuddin, both 21, died instantly when their vehicle was rammed off the A46 near Six Hills, Leicestershire, during the early hours of February 11 last year. The car they were in crashed into a central reservation barrier and a tree. Mr Hussain, who was a passenger in the car, had made a 999 call just seconds earlier stating they were being chased by people in balaclavas, being rammed off the road and that they were going to die.

Following a 15-week trial at Leicester Crown Court, Ansreen Bukhari, Mahek Bukhari, Raees Jamal and Rekan Karwan were all found guilty of the murders of Saqib Hussain and Mohammed Hashim Ijazuddin. Alice Wood, 23, drove at Ryan Watson three times following an argument at their home. Following the third time, 24-year-old Ryan was dragged under the car for 160m. Wood then went to a nearby house and told the occupant that she thought she had ran over her boyfriend.

Medics rushed to the scene in Rode Heath, Cheshire, but sadly Ryan was pronounced dead. Wood was arrested and later charged with murder before being convicted on Tuesday, January 2, at Chester Crown Court. Read more here.

Stephen McHugh Stephen McHugh (Image: West Mercia Police) Killer driver Stephen McHugh cut a ‘loving and talented’ 22-year-old’s life tragically short when he drove into a crowd of pedestrians. The 28-year-old has been convicted of Rebecca Steer’s murder after she was crushed under the wheels of his gold Volvo in Oswestry, Shropshire. The ‘horrendous’ incident happened in the early hours of October 9 last year.

Rebecca, who had been enjoying a night out with her friends, had “no chance to get away” as he “used his car like a weapon” and accelerated towards a group gathered outside Grill Out takeaway on Willow Road. Rebecca was dragged along the street, causing catastrophic internal injuries, including multiple rib fractures. She was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but died shortly after arriving.

McHugh, of Artillery Road in Oswestry, was found guilty of 22-year-old Rebecca’s murder following a two-week trial at Stafford Crown Court on Thursday, May 4. Read more here. Kerry Fair Kerry Fair (Image: West Midlands Police) A mum chased the rider of a stolen motorbike through Birmingham’s streets before knocking him off – causing him fatal injuries.

Kerry Fair performed a U-turn and hit 86mph as she pursued Thomas Maguire through Kingstanding last May. She wanted to teach Mr Maguire a lesson after he and others had stolen a Yamaha belonging to one of her daughter’s boyfriends, Birmingham Crown Court heard. West Midlands Police said she deliberately pursued the 30-year-old after being told he had stolen the bike hours earlier.

Moments before hitting the motorcycle, Fair, 39, was captured driving a Ford Focus at speeds of between 76 and 86 mph in a 30mph zone. Mr Maguire was knocked off the motorcycle and Fair fled the scene, leaving him seriously injured. Read more here.
