Whilst some celebrity chefs might recommend swirling the water as you crack the egg or adding a splash of vinegar to the boiling water, there is a far easier way to get the perfect poached egg in under three minutes. Originally shared by food writer Rose, the mum joked that the hack would ‘change your life’ despite only using a simple kitchen tool. If you haven’t guessed what she did from the above video, the voice actor used a fine mesh sieve to save her eggs from getting scrambled.
Though it’s usually used for baking, Rose decided to put it in a pan of boiling water and salt with the wire sitting just below the water line. Cracking the eggs into the mesh, she then blanched them for a few minutes before straining and serving with avocado on toast. Not only does this save your eggs from getting overcooked or stringy, this clever hack prevents you having to scrape egg whites off your pan.
However, not everyone was so impressed with the cooking technique.
