Not until the iPhone 5c did any colors beyond black and white appear, but now, every release brings its own color gamut. Even when the announced shades are the same, the actual colors are subtly different. As if to answer that question, a series of renders have just appeared, showing what the iPhone 14 Pro might look like.

Although the current iPhone 13 Pro launched in four colors, with a fifth being added later, the images show five colors which are rumored to be available at launch. So, while for the iPhone 13 Pro there was Graphite, Silver, Gold and Sierra Blue last September, more recently Alpine Green was added. The predicted shades for 2022 add up to five, which is more than I’d have expected, so I’m skeptical, to tell you the truth.

But there is an unprecedented fifth color: Apple has never launched the Pro iPhone in five colors on day one. Again, that’s why I’m skeptical.

The fifth color, though, is purple, which is quite the departure. There have been two purple iPhones, but never an iPhone Pro, so perhaps this is the year. Previous videos have shown a deep purple, but Zelbo’s renders show a lighter shade, closer to earlier purple iPhones.

That’s because previous purple iPhones have been mauve or wisteria at best. That is, attractive, but not the deep, punchy purple I’ve been craving. So, if there is a purple iPhone Pro this year, and it is deep and dark, I’ll be delighted.

Ian Zelbo On the other hand, rumors relating to the regular iPhone 14 indicate there could be a purple shade in the more affordable phone, alongside Green, Blue, Black, White and PRODUCT(RED). Here, Zelbo is coming to the rescue of those who desire a darker color.
