), along with four other prizes for cinematography, visual effects, editing and score. “Barbie”, which was released on the same day as “Oppenheimer” and topped the box office charts for the year, took home prizes for Best Comedy, Best Original Screenplay, Best Production Design and Best Original Song, along with two others for costume design and hair and makeup. Despite its big wins, many of Barbie’s awards came during commercial breaks, prompting host Chelsea Handler to “go rogue” and call Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie to deliver an acceptance speech.

Robbie thanked Handler for the unexpected invite on stage, before handing the mic to Gerwig, who thanked everyone involved in the film—including Barbie’s parent company Mattel, for “letting us take their beloved icon and make something so unhinged. ” One of the most memorable speeches at the event was delivered by an emotional Harrison Ford, who was described as a “hypergiant” by “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” director James Mangold, who invited him on stage to accept the Career Achievement Award. The “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones” star was greeted with a long-standing ovation as he thanked the crowd and joked he had only three minutes to give the speech before thanking people for the honor.
