You’ve probably heard that going unvaccinated can leave you at greater risk for having more severe Covid-19, based on a growing number of research studies summarized on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website .

But Mikael Thalen writing for the Daily Dot warned about another potential exposure that may resulted from using the website, one that may have involved your dating data. In the following tweet thread, Thalen referred to Unjected as the “Tinder for anti-vaxxers” and described how the website’s users may have their personal data swiped: Thalen then described how the Daily Dot had set up a test account on the Unjected website and then witnessed how a web developer and systems administrator who goes by the online name GeopJr was able to essentially hack into this test account and change its information: Having others change your profile pic, edit your posts, and change your username obviously is not a good thing. You wouldn’t want a random person messing with your dating profile so that it seems like you don’t enjoy long walks on the beach at sunset.

Or photoshopping a shirt onto your shirtless body in your profile pic. Or changing your username to something like “neverwearspants. ” GeopJr, a self-described as a “CS student from Greece,” told the Daily Dot that basic security protocols had been overlooked when the Unjected website was set up.

In other words, premature publication of the website may have left Unjected rather unprotected. . Before the FDA Clinical or Safety Reviews Have Been Made Public Thalen’s tweet thread continued with what happened after the Daily Dot had contacted Unjected’s co-founder Shelby Thomson about these vulnerabilities: In the Daily Dot article, Thalen wrote, “The most critical issue, the exposure of user data, has been fixed. Numerous non-critical bugs remain.

” Now, it’s not clear how many actual humans might have been affected by the data exposure and might be at risk with these remaining bugs. The website does claim that it’s “grown to an ever multiplying 110,000 members in 85 different countries around the world. ” Of course, when dating is involved, the phrase “ever multiplying” could mean different things.

And currently the website doesn’t provide more data to verify the size of their membership. What might someone join Unjected? Well, the website includes the following description of itself: “Created by two moms in Hawaii, during the height of the vaccine rollout spring 2021; Unjected is a multi-faceted platform of health conscious, covid-19 unvaccinated humans who believe in medical freedom, freedom of choice, freedom of speech & bodily autonomy. ” According to the website, Unjected offers the following: “Features to help you find love with mRNA free partners.

” Hmm, “mRNA free” is an interesting term. If you are human, every day, your cells form numerous copies of mRNA (which is short for messenger ribonucleic acid) that carry instructions on how to build proteins from your cells’ nuclei to the protein-making factors in the cells’ cytoplasm. So technically, someone completely “mRNA free” would be dead, which wouldn’t make for a good relationship, personal or professional.

So, presumably “mRNA free” in the case of the website refers specifically to someone who hasn’t gotten one of the Covid-19 mRNA vaccines. Keep in mind, though, that the mRNA from Covid-19 vaccines doesn’t remain in your body long after injection. Instead, our body breaks down this mRNA soon after it’s helped your cells make some of the spike proteins that normally stud the surface of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and make it look like a spiky massage ball.

Assistance to “Find friendships with those who truly understand ‘what’s really going on. ’” This presumably doesn’t mean people who understand the song, “What’s Going On,” sung by Marvin Gaye. “Social feeds without fact checkers.

” Note that the website put the word “without” in bold and italics. Because who would want any claims to be fact checked? “Listings features to connect and do business with those who have always been mandate free or find local artists and creatives to support your local unvaccinated community. ” This way you can identify which businesses didn’t want to implement evidence-based ways of protecting the public.

Because who would want to mix with businesses that actually are trying to protect the public. “mRNA free blood directories & fertility directories to protect the integrity of the population. ” OK, telling a potential date that you are looking to “protect integrity of the population” may not be the best opening line.

If all of these scream, “Sign me up” to you but you are short on funds, you’re apparently in luck. The website says that “Many of our services are free to enjoy and utilize,” although there is the option of joining, “Unjected Premium for faster connecting at just $11. 11 usd with monthly and yearly membership options.

” Alternatively, if you are interested in keeping your data private and your facts checked, you may want to be careful about any websites that may not maintain at least basic security protocols and may make statements that are not backed by science and in fact go against available scientific evidence. The SARS-CoV-2 is still spreading in a relatively uncontrolled manner with an average of 44,088 people being hospitalized and 436 people dying each day from Covid-19 in U. S.

alone, according the the New York Times . There are also plenty of computer hackers, viruses, and other online badness out there. Therefore, it’s a good idea to keep your body and your data appropriately protected from viruses, whether they are biological or electronic.
