Ever since the internationally renowned K-pop band, BTS aka Bangtan Sonyeondan announced their hiatus, fanatics are chugging down every related piece of news. The seven members of the band–Jin, Suga, J-hope, RM (Kim Namjoon), V (Kim Taehyung), Jimin and Jung Kook–have temporarily disbanded to serve their compulsory military obligation for 2 years. Jin commenced his service in December 2022, followed by J-hope in April.

Suga has opted to become a social service agent and has already begun his training, too. The remaining four members announced their conscription just a while ago along with their upcoming documentary series. Now, on the threshold of this news, fanatics are wondering whether BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star is based on a true story entirely.

With the pop idols serving their military duties, how have they collaborated for this series? If you, too, harbour such questions, dive in! BTS’ enlistment has raised havoc since the past year and with all of them in the military now, seems highly anticipated. The documentary is woven with both individual and collective stories of the band, right from their formation. It has been helmed by Kang Myeongseok, while the hosting service has been announced to be Disney+.

Though the band is temporarily on a hiatus, they are kindling plans to reunite in 2025. Recently, RM and V, before starting their service, took it to Weverse to pen a heartfelt message for their audience. “After 18 months have passed, I’ve prepared a lot of things so please look forward to them,” their message read.

But until then, fanatics are looking forward to the upcoming documentary. As for the series being entirely realistic, the answer is yes. BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star is based on the true story of the South Korean pop band, Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS).

It features eight episodes, that will be released weekly starting from December 20, 2023. The remaining episodes will be available weekly on Wednesdays. BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star in its entirety is a documentary series that chronicles the entire 10 years of the Gammy-nominated band.

The “Bangtan Sonyeondan” aka “Bulletproof Boys (or Boy Scotts)” was envisioned by Bang Si-hyuk, a musician and the owner of the Big Hit Entertainment studio. In 2010, he assembled these seven artists and slowly, they conquered the entire world with their music. These South Korean pop singers released their first album, ‘2 Cool 4 Skool’ in June 2013 and have brought in hundreds of melodies in the past decade.

On the occasion of their tenth anniversary, the BTS members have decided to treat their fans with an exclusive series. As Big Hit Music’s statement mentions, this documentary features the entire journey of the band. “In celebration of their 10th anniversary, the seven members, still moving forward, reflect on their past and tell genuine stories from their hearts.

We ask for your interest and support for ‘BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star’,” Big Hit Music said in a pre-screening interview. It is clear from the trailer that BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star harbours intense emotions. The 20-second-long trailer portrays the band members are brimming with tears, laughter and nostalgia.

However, RM’s last statement from the teaser, ‘We did it!’ conveys their ecstasy perfectly. Over the next few months, starting from December 20, you will be able to discover the unsaid secrets and stories of BTS on Disney+. .
