Blizzard Entertainment Many Overwatch 2 players have been wondering why certain maps from the original game haven’t popped up in Quick Play or Competitive Play yet (other than 2CP maps, which are gone from those modes for good). A blog post that focuses on hero balance and some bugs provides the answer.

The idea is to help keep each season feel fresh by rotating maps in and out of Quick Play and Competitive Play. In addition, by temporarily removing maps, it gives Team 4 a chance to make adjustments to them when necessary.
Many of the original game’s maps have additional cover to make up for the fact that there’s one fewer tank per team. To that end, the gorgeous Rialto map will return in Season 2 with some extra stuff to hide behind. It also brought Hybrid map Numbani back to the game. However, that won’t be available in Quick Play or Competitive Play in Season 1. You’ll still be able to play maps that aren’t in the rotation in Arcade or custom game modes.
