About NHAI – The National Highways Authority of India or NHAI is an autonomous agency of the Government of India, set up in 1995 (Act 1988) and is responsible for management of a network of over 50,000 km of National Highways out of 1,32,499 km in India. It is a nodal agency of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. NHAI has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Space Research Organisation for satellite mapping of highways.
Mrs. Alka Upadhyaya is the present Chairperson of NHAI since December 2021. She is an IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre and 1990 batch.

2022 Essential Educational Qualification and Experience : (I) Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in Hindi with English as a subject at the degree level; OR Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in English with Hindi as a subject at the degree level; OR Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in any subject with Hindi and English as subjects at the degree level; OR (II) Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in any subject with English Medium and Hindi as a subject at the degree level; OR Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in any subject with English Medium and Hindi as a subject at the degree level. Desirable:-(i) Knowledge at the level of Matriculation of a recognized Board or equivalent of one of the languages other than Hindi mentioned in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. OR (ii) Degree or Diploma in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa from a recognized University.
Essential Experience:- Eight years’ experience of using/applying terminology (terminological work) in Hindi and translation work from English to Hindi or vice-a-versa, preferably of technical or scientific literature.
