We also got a new spot for She-Hulk , which is out next month, and it ended with a hint of a cameo from none other than Daredevil himself. Daredevil fully entering the MCU and being “saved” from his now-dead Netflix series has been a pretty major theme at Marvel lately.

We saw Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Peter Parker’s lawyer. Kingpin was the big bad of Hawkeye. And now, of course, we have a full Daredevil series confirmed, 18 episodes of “Born Again” coming late in Phase 5 in the spring of 2024.

However, it seems as if She-Hulk has managed to snag Daredevil for more than just a cameo. And that was surprising, given all the rules that Marvel has about what characters can be used where. Here’s showrunner Jessica Gao speaking to Collider about what that’s like: “Because everything in the MCU is so interconnected, you just had to know that everything you want to do, there are borders to it, and you have to figure out what the borders are before you can really make any hard decisions.

So, you know, sometimes we’d come up with like an idea or a character we wanted to use, but you have to kind of stop and ask to make sure that it wasn’t already been used, or there wasn’t already another plan. Gao seems surprised how much they let her use him: “I don’t think we ever, in a million years, thought that we would be allowed to use them, because we didn’t know what the status was of the character. And then, I can’t remember how, we got wind that he was coming back and that it was Charlie Cox, and we were like, ‘Wait, does that I mean we can use him? Are we allowed?’ And when they told us yeah, I mean, we couldn’t believe it, we thought we were being pranked. We just kept writing him in, and we kept rolling with the story just thinking like, ‘Okay, any moment now they’re going to tell us we can’t use them.

They made a mistake. They actually don’t have the rights. ‘ But it just kept [becoming] more and more real.

And it was so hard to keep that secret!” Daredevil Netflix Given the overlap between the two characters both in their chosen professions and their past comic history, I’m very curious to see how this plays out. I’m not sure you can pick out two more opposite tones within the MCU however, as She-Hulk is a fourth wall-breaking Fleabag-like comedy, and Daredevil was as dark and broody and violent (and good!) as we’ve seen within the MCU. Still, I think everyone agrees that the more Murdock we see in the MCU the better, and now it’s yet another reason to look forward to She-Hulk.
