unless that’s the answer. In Pictures via Getty Images After a truly awkward June for the world’s Wordle players , the five-letter daily puzzler–which remains the second most popular game globally among the Twitter gaming community–continues to confound users of the social media platform. The hardest Wordle answer of July 2022 proved to be rather ironic, too, considering the repetitive nature of the game.
The clever clogs of the Twitter Comms team have once again pulled together an exclusive insight into the five most difficult Wordle puzzles in July, basing findings on the number of times the horrible “Wordle X/6” phrase was shared with followers. I’ll be damned, too–my surefire bet for the top spot only came fifth. Hardest Wordle answers, according to Twitter (July 2022) 5) Wordle 388 (July 12): NIGHT Why did I think NIGHT would be the most difficult Wordle answer of July? God only knows what the reactions to HIGHT, DIGHT or KIGHT will be like, presuming they haven’t been removed from Wordle ’s five-year plan. 4) Wordle 402 (July 26): CINCH Well, this Wordle answer certainly didn’t live up to its name among Twitter users.
CINCH, meaning something done with ease–or the strap that holds a saddle on a horse–was the fourth-hardest puzzle of July. That double letter won’t have helped. 3) Wordle 401 (July 25): ELOPE A trio of vowels, including a double letter that bookends the word, likely catapulted ELOPE into the top three most difficult Wordle s of July 2022.
The only word of note within one letter difference is SLOPE, though the likes of EVOKE, EMOTE, ERODE, ELUDE, GLOVE, and GLOBE can deceive those who’ve got three greens in place. 2) Wordle 395 (July 19): ANGRY Well, this is wonderfully apt; when playing Wordle , there’s no need to get angry. .
. unless that’s the actual answer. I’ve always found myself underusing the letter Y in favor of trying to get every vowel into my first two guesses, and even then, I always assume the vowels will be second or third.
One followed by four consonants is a pretty rare occurrence. 1) Wordle 396 (July 20): TRITE Just when players thought they were truly angry at Wordle, the following day threw up the most difficult puzzle of the month, and one that’s fitting for a simple, inflexible puzzle. TRITE, meaning “lacking freshness” or “dull on account of overuse” may be quite a good description of Wordle among its detractors and former players, but as we’ve learned recently, the game continues to dominate social media many months after its initial explosion in popularity.
