Letters for Nov. 13: Now that the Democrats have won the General Assembly, Republicans should ‘just stay out of the way’

Well, Democrats have control of the Virginia General Assembly again. Thank God for that. Now if we can just replace that former President Donald Trump-loving Gov.

Glenn Youngkin in 2025, we can go back to seeing actual progress achieved again. These little “Dark Ages” of Republican control are getting pretty irritating aren’t they? The best thing Republicans can do for Virginia and America is to just stay out of the way and let decent, patriotic and competent Democrats control the reins of government. Republicans just don’t have it in them.

The Israel-Hamas war rages on. The media keeps pace with those events in real time while other important news is frequently relegated to the back burner, for instance the crisis at our southern border. Among the immigrants flowing into the country, some are from Iran, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and other countries hostile to the U.

S. Terrorists have been intercepted; some have escaped detection, their plans, capabilities and whereabouts unknown. The FBI director was questioned about the border crisis during recent congressional testimony.

His response was alarming. The danger to international stability from Middle East unrest demands President Joe Biden’s full attention. Equally important is the terrorist threat to our country, its existence the direct result of Biden’s border policies.

Biden knows terrorists use the border to enter the country. Their nefarious mission is to inflict maximum destruction of the cruelest possible kind. Biden has “border-related myopia,” e.

g. , an incurable, but treatable, disorder affecting his policy-making vision. Treatment could begin if the media placed the border on the front burner of the daily news.

However, treatment delivered by the media won’t help Biden: His affliction, sadly, has reached an advanced stage. Successful treatment ultimately rests with the public. In 2024, voters should send Biden back to Delaware.

He’d be a former president whose reelection was lost, in large part, because he wouldn’t talk the border talk nor walk the border walk. When Democrats are elected, I worry about how many more unborn babies will be aborted. Stop it.

Stop aborting unborn babies. You were a baby once because your mother allowed you to live, or you would not be making these selfish decisions that allow the abortion of fetuses. Abortion is wrong.

Women do not have the right to abort their unborn babies. It devalues human life from the beginning of the baby’s existence. For goodness’ sake use protection.

There are many ways to prevent a pregnancy. The unborn baby should not suffer because of your lack of family planning. Stop aborting fetuses.

J. Antoni is disingenuous at best. Instead, the latest causes of inflation per the Bureau of Labor Statistics are as follows.

One, the current shortage of workers in the job market leads to higher wages and thus to higher prices; two, supply chain disruptions; and three, energy price spikes primarily due to the war in Ukraine. The author also conveniently forgets that the stimulus package that helped so many people was voted in by Congress and was not put in place by the president. With respect to gasoline prices and the drawing down of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as was stated, the author states that it left the country in a vulnerable strategic position but provides no data to show that this is the case.

However, the author still does not realize that the federal government has no control over gasoline prices. .
