Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Red Ubisoft Yesterday, Ubisoft announced not one but four new Assassin’s Creed games that would be following the final DLC of Valhalla, the super-Creed game that has been existing as a quasi-live service for a couple years now. Ubisoft has big plans for Assassin’s Creed in the future, which includes live-action and animated Netflix series, some sort of weird, metaverse-ish hub for the games called Infinity, and then all the games themselves. Here are the four, and what we know about them: Mirage Ubisoft Assassin’s Creed Mirage – This is the only one they weren’t referring to by a codename, so it’s at least somewhat close, likely out in 2023.

This follows Valhalla sub-character Basim in his youth, and the game takes place in 9th Century Baghdad. It’s a few hundred years and a few thousand miles away from the original Assassin’s Creed in Syria, but the main point of the game does seem to be going back to the “series’ roots” of actual stealth and assassinations rather than sprawling worlds and open combat. We don’t know the exact size of Mirage, but presumably it’s not going to be Valhalla-big, though it is a “mainline” game.

Join the Conversation Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade – This is the fruit of a longrunning deal with Tencent where Ubisoft is attempting to make moves in the Chinese market with, surprise, a mobile game. And yes, of course this is also when they decided they should make a full Assassin’s Creed game set in China. This is not only going to be released in China, but it was developed with that market in mind.

Reportedly this is not going to pull any fast ones like insert gacha gambling mechanics into the game, like we see with so many mobile titles in China, but rather it’s just an AC game with touch controls. We will have to wait and see how it does end up being monetized, however. With the ability to create your own character, I’m guessing some level of microtransaction customization there, at the very least.

Red Ubisoft Assassin’s Creed Codename Red – This is probably the offering that people arethe most excited about, finally, the arrival of a fully-fledged AC game in Japan, where you will play a shinobi/ninja, realizing a fantasy most have had since the series first launched. This is arriving after the much-praised Ghost of Tsushima, where a samurai wrestled with “dishonorable” stealth attacks and poison, but many are clamoring to see AC’s take on the concept. This is supposed to be something big, open world and RPG-like, somewhat similar to Valhalla, albeit may not quite that big.

Hexe Ubisoft Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe – This one was shown as little more than a Blair Witch-like teaser trailer, but earlier reporting says that this game will be set in the Holy Roman Empire’s Witch Trials of the early 1600s in Germany, as “Hexe” means witch in German. This game, unlike Red, is supposed to be something different than the normal giant RPG world of most AC games, and may be a smaller, more focused experience as Ubisoft looks to mix up its series format a bit. It’s…a lot, and the presentation was overall pretty light on details as between all these games, zero actual gameplay was shown.

It was all just cutscenes and teasers and even some live-action spots. It’s tough to know which of these projects to actually get excited about until we know more, but at least conceptually, I think most are going to be into Red’s concept, given how many years everyone’s been yearning for their stab at becoming a ninja Assassin.
