The trailer of Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar’s Govinda Naam Mera was officially launched by the makers on November 20 in Mumbai. The Free Press Journal was present at the do. The film is directed by Shashank Khaitan.

The comedy thriller explores the happy-go-lucky life of Govinda Waghmare (Vicky), a struggling choreographer. The trailer takes viewers on a rollercoaster ride of laughter, romance, and thrill. Vicky reveals why the film is special to him.

“I was hungry to do a film where I didn’t have to cry. So iss film mein mera dukh finally khatam ho gaya (laughs). My relatives always praised my performances but they used to ask, ‘Film mein naach gaana kab karega tu?’ So finally Govinda Naam Mera came,” he shares.

On collaborating with Shashank for the first time, Vicky gushes, “Shashank had called me and said, ‘Main kuch pagal likh raha hu and I’m considering you to play the part. ’ Then he narrated it to me. I know Shashank from my theatre days.

He is also a tremendous actor and dancer. We’ve been wanting to collaborate and I’m so happy that he thought of me for this part because I had no idea people could think of me for such a role. So by Shashank and Karan Johar’s confidence, I got the confidence to play Govinda.

I had a lot of fun. Everyday when I came to shoot, it felt like a party. Shashank is the most positive person I have met in my life.

All the other actors are just fantastic and good human beings. So us coming together created a good energy on set. ” Video: Check out Vicky Kaushal’s EPIC reply to pap who said he should do a movie with wife Katrina KaifKiara feels blessed to be associated with the upcoming film.

“We started this journey two years ago. Playing Suku and being a part of this amazing film has truly changed my life. I had a fun time and I can’t wait for the audience to watch the film,” she states.

Opening up about her character, Bhumi explains, “When this film came to me, I needed some time to actually believe that Shashank has written this phenomenal film. I am fortunate to have great scripts come my way and Govinda Naam Mera was something so disruptive, unique and so funny. I wanted to do a comedy and thriller but here was a script with this fantastic cast.

Every character has done justice to their parts and the film will keep you to the edge of your seats. As an actor, you are constantly looking for parts that help you grow and get out of your comfort zone, and playing Gauri definitely did that. It was liberating to play a character that speaks her mind.

She’s so straightforward and sexy and I’ve never played such a bold part in my life. ”Govinda Naam Mera is ode to pulpy Bollywood ’90s masala films, says Vicky KaushalOn a parting note Shashank concludes, “I don’t focus on the results. I focus on the process and I write because it gives me a lot of happiness.

Often, we are caught up thinking whether the film will be a hit or a flop. But I don’t think about that because our job is to create and also take chances. If I like a character and a story, I write it.

When I look at other people’s work, I get inspired. I don’t want to be a limited filmmaker and make a particular genre. I’ll keep pushing myself to do better.

”Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the film is all set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on December 16. Govinda Naam Mera: Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Kiara Advani’s film to release directly on OTT.
