Here is Why Thor 5 Release Date Seems a Few Years Away!

A Marvel masterpiece led by Chris Hemsworth, the Thor film franchise has come a long way. It commenced as a succession war and has evolved into a sensational tale of self-discovery. Of course, the previous four films have been a tangent apart from each other.

But each one of them has been tied together by a profound theme that explores intense emotions amid ripples of conspiracy. Thor is an obvious part of the MCU. However, both the character and the film series stand as a peculiar monolith on their own accord.

Naturally, fanatics are wondering whether a fifth instalment is in order. The answer doesn’t seem delightful because it is at least a few years away. Here is what the director, Taika Waititi, has to say about Thor 5! Marvel tales are way beyond the flashing lights and epic action sequences for a reason; they breathe life into the mythological characters.

Thor, too, is derived from Norse mythology in which he is a hammer-wielding God of thunder. Despite its intense turbulence, Taika’s direction has led Thor to become more humane and approachable. It was a fresh twist but in the long haul, it just didn’t fit the dark Marvel universe.

As it happens, even Hemsworth believes that. After Thor: Love and Thunder’s release, Chris appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. Here, he claimed, “You look at Thor 1 and 2, they were quite similar.

Ragnarok and Love and Thunder are similar. I think it’s about reinventing it. ” When speaking about the fifth iteration, Hemsworth noted, “I don’t know if I’m even invited back, but if I was, I think it would have to be a drastically different version in tone, everything, just for my own sanity…Thor lost his mind that last one.

He’s got to figure it out now. ” Love and Thunder’s humorous tonality certainly has a detrimental effect on the future of the franchise. But it isn’t the only reason Thor 5 doesn’t seem to be happening in the near future–not in the next 2 years at least.

The mixed response is a major contributing factor but Hemsworth and Waititi’s responses are the ultimate conclusive parameters. Of course, the MCU creators and Disney will provide the final verdict but there is no Thor without Hemsworth, is there? To say that Waititi has a lot on his plate would be an understatement. The director is occupied with multiple projects at the moment, a few of them are a part of the Star Wars franchise.

His upcoming film is a sports comedy entitled, Next Goal Wins. Moreover, he is set to adapt the anime classics Akira and Klara and the Sun. With this in mind, Taika hardly has room for any other project.

Moreover, he doesn’t seem to be interested in revisiting Thor anytime soon. “It’s a very draining process working on these films for two and a half years and nonstop,” Waititi said in a post-screening interview. He went on to mention that he wouldn’t be working on Thor for the next five to six years at least.

However, he kept the plausibility open of another director taking over the upcoming film. “I’d imagine another ‘Thor’ would be a lot sooner than that. But I love Marvel, I love working with them.

I love Chris,” he further added. “I would never feel like they are cheating on me,” the Oscar winner says with a laugh. “We’re in an open relationship, and it’s like if they want to see other people, I’m happy for that,” Waititi concluded.

If speculations are anything to go by, Hemsworth is in deep discussion with the producers for Thor 5. As he mentioned once, he would love to arrive again if the plot is kept unpredictable and notably less daunted by comedy. “If an audience wants to see it, and if there’s something that we believe is exciting and fun, then great.

I’ve loved being able to reinvent that character a few times. I don’t have the answer yet, but I would love to try and [figure out] how we can do that again and keep it a little unpredictable. ” Though nothing has been confirmed yet, it seems like Thor 5 would take at least a few years to hit theatres.

As I mentioned previously, the Thor franchise commenced as a succession war between the eponymous character and his brother, Loki. As Thor tries to take over his father, Odin, the King of Asgard’s throne, he is interrupted by the Frost Giants. They were allowed into the kingdom by Loki to steal the Casket of Ancient Winters, the ultimate source of their strength.

As Thor travels to the Frost Giants’ kingdom, Jotunheim, a war ensues between the two species. Odin has to intercept and save both of his sons, who imperiously boast about their courage. He exiles Thor from Asgard and throws him on the Earth to serve his punishment.

As Thor tries to blend in with humans, Asgard is thrown off kilter by Loki. He has discovered that Laukey is his biological father and aims to dismantle Odin and his kingdom. Before he can accomplish his mission, Odin falls into a deep slumber to recover his strength.

He considers it as a cue to take over Asgard and betrays Laukey by slaughtering him under the haze of betrayal and power. Meanwhile, Thor stumbles across an astrophysicist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and is awestruck by her. Their relationship forms a central aspect of the Thor saga and flows seamlessly into the fourth film of the series, Love and Thunder, too.

Undoubtedly, Ragnarok (the third iteration) was a piece of art that blew everyone’s minds and crossed the 800 million mark in box office collection. Also, it is undeniably Waititi’s creative imagination that flared the God of Thunder series. But now that the director has confirmed his absence from the franchise and Hemsworth is eagerly anticipating a dramatic and unpredictable plot, Thor 5 remains capricious.

One plausibility remains Thor and Loki’s reunion because these brothers have come a long way from being at each other’s throats. Thor 5 could pick from where Love and Thunder left off and portray the dynamics of the New Asgard. Of course, if this storyline is picked, the Guardians of the Galaxy would have to bid farewell to Thor.

At this point, Thor’s farewell seems like the logical choice as well. Speculations regarding the creators adapting the Chaos War arc are flourishing high as well and rightly so. For Chris to have the darker undertone and an intense battle, the Chaos King would be a perfect alternative.

His unsurmountable and almost invincible power can aid him in his battle and bring back the entire Guardians of the Galaxy once again to stand against him. Thor would be able to bloom to his full potential and reunite with the other knights before distancing himself from the franchise. If Thor 5 builds upon the Chaos War arc, the cast list would span dozens for sure.

Leading the ensemble would be Chris Hemsworth as Thor, the formidable God of Thunder. He has come a long way from “trying to figure out his purpose” and has now embraced his true personality. Tom Hiddleston would reprise his role as Loki, Thor’s younger brother and former archnemesis.

Loki harbours a multitude of different shades at once, because of which he transforms from being volatile to hilarious in a minute. Moreover, the Guardians of the Galaxy would arrive again for this rumoured project. Chris Pratt, Natasha Romanoff and Steve Rogers would reprise their roles and succour Thor in his extraordinary mission.

Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Thor’s best friend and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster would certainly join the cast ensemble of Thor 5. .
