Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin AEW unveiled Trios Championships on AEW Dynamite. Credit: AEW AEW Dynamite advertised three championship matches with AEW interim world champion Jon Moxley defending against RUSH, AEW women’s world champion Thunder Rosa defending against Miyu Yamashita and Ricky Starks defending his FTW Championship against Danhausen. The big news out of the night is Hook winning the FTW Championship from Starks in a surprise challenge, only for Powerhouse Hobbs to turn heel against Starks.

AEW also announced the Trios Championships to add to their murderers’ row of belts. Dynamite’s main event featured a shocking upset as Daniel Garcia beat a returning Bryan Danielson after outside interference from Jake Hager. Last week’s broadcast of AEW Dynamite continued to slide with 910,000 viewers.

Though AEW Dynamite has been No. 1 on cable for five straight weeks, its viewership has declined for three consecutive weeks. AEW Dynamite Ratings July 10, 2022 | 910,000 July 13, 2022 | 942,000 July 6, 2022 | 979,000 June 29, 2022 | 1.

RUSH Death, taxes and Jon Moxley bleeding during an AEW World Championship match.

Following this match, Chris Jericho challenged Moxley for the AEW Interim Championship, and even Anna Jay cut a very polarizing promo where she threatened to choke everybody out. RUSH’s nickname, Toro Blanco, sounds cool, but its English translation (White Bull) is not an intimidating nickname at all. Jon Moxley had an eye-roll of a response where he said he didn’t want the entertaining, mainstream version of Chris Jericho, but rather the VHS version of Jericho.

This mentality in AEW will keep its audience small, middle-aged and hardcore. Good luck with that. Ricky Starks def.

Danhausen; Hook Wins FTW Title After a quick victory by Ricky Starks, out came Hook. Without directly mentioning that Hook was his son, Taz mentioned how Hook’s orange trunks were a “message” and how this moment was “surreal” for him. Now that AEW seems intent with promoting the FTW title at a higher level, their first impetus was to take it off Ricky Starks.

Starks was on his way to a potentially star-making promo, talking about the same “ give it time ” comments from AEW that I’ve been talking about over the past year. Unfortunately, Powerhouse Hobbs turned on him mid-promo. It was a very well-done heel turn that came out of nowhere, and hopefully both Starks and Hobbs excel as singles performer.

In AEW, though, I wouldn’t hold my breath. Sammy Guevara def. Dante Martin Dante Martin showcased oodles of charisma and showmanship throughout this match, including a very good backstage promo beforehand.

This was also the match where he went public with his relationship with Skye Blue. Anna Jay returned to help put the boots to Skye Blue, and she looks like she’s having the time of her life as a heel. Jungle Boy Calls out Christian It’s a low bar, but this was Jungle Boy’s best promo, however it relied on a litany of curse words including the P-word, the S-word, the other P-word (that rhymes with “Rick”) and the B-word.

Christian Cage didn’t even have to say anything incendiary to match Jungle Boy’s intensity, he just chose to interrupt Jungle Boy while Jungle Boy was talking about burying his father. Swerve Strickland def. Mark Sterling and Tony Nese One-half of the AEW world tag team champions was wrestling a handicap match, and fans just wanted to see Mark Sterling.

After Woods’ victory, Keith Lee had been laid out by Tony Woods backstage. Does Swerve Strickland’s win mean Sterling is done trying to get him fired from AEW? Thunder Rosa def. Miyu Yamashita This was a well-wrestled match between two excellent wrestlers, and while fans were polite, they weren’t fully invested.

One of these days, AEW will let Thunder Rosa have a fully fleshed out feud that makes her feel like every bit the champion that Britt Baker was. At least, that’s what I hope. Bryan Danielson vs.

Daniel Garcia Bryan Danielson did a great job getting the crowd into this match immediately. Danielson repeatedly sold like he was suffering from concussion-like symptoms, and when AEW cut to a concerned fan, Chris Jericho hilariously called the fan a mark. Danielson did his best impression of Shawn Michaels circa November 20, 1995.
