Things to do this weekend in the Sacramento area

From rib cook-offs to parades and soccer tournaments to salsa dancing, this weekend in the Sacramento region is jam-packed with activities for the whole family. Here’s a running list of events happening across the region. The fun is underway in Placer County with the fair bringing rides, animals, exhibits and plenty of fair food back to the area this weekend.

The fair is the county’s longest-running event. The fair runs until Sunday and is located @the Grounds. Sunday is Family Fun Day and the second annual Placer County Fair Rib Cook-Off.

Learn more here and in the video player above. The inaugural Sacramento Bachata & Salsa Festival will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Sacramento. There will be 75 different dance workshops ranging from beginner to advanced, along with live entertainment all weekend.

Midtown Sacramento Artist of the Year Carlos Kandia will perform as well as local and international dancers. The event also boasts salsa and bachata social dancing all night until 6 a. m.

It runs until Sunday. Learn more here . The first of its kind family-friendly agriculture event is coming to Woodland as a celebration of local growers.

The event runs from 5 to 9 p. m. on Friday with live music and entertainment.

Learn more here . The Sacramento LGBT Center is hosting its first annual soccer LGBTournament for the last weekend of Pride month. The tournament starts at 9 a.

m. on Saturday at Sousa Park. It costs $150 per team or $20 for a free agent.

on Saturday. The Lutheran Church of the Cross in East Sacramento is hosting a community carnival at 4465 H St. Learn more here .

The fourth annual Historic Folsom Hometown Parade is on Saturday. The parade starts at 9:30 a. m.

and will begin at Scott Street and head west to Reading Street. The 2022 Hometown Parade grand marshal is John McGinness, former Sacramento Sheriff. Ahead of the parade, the Eagles Lodge is hosting a pancake breakfast.

And after the parade, live music will be at the amphitheater at the Folsom Hotel and Gaslight Company. The 700 block of Sutter Street will remain closed to vehicles through the weekend. Light rail will be free during this time if you show the QR code found on parade postcards or posters.

If you’ve ever been interested in emergency preparedness and radio communication check out the ham radio operators from the Sierra Foothills Amateur Radio Club. The club will participate in a national radio exercise from Friday through Sunday at the Georgetown Airport. This is the club’s largest event of the year.

In addition to raising awareness of the hobby, the Sierra Foothills Amateur Radio Club will be hosting volunteer examination sessions during the weekend event to license new ham radio operators. Learn more here . The Taco and Margarita Festival takes place Saturday at Cal Expo from 11 a.

m. to 6 p. m.
